We have a live newscast that takes place every morning!
We got to be on real TV!!! |
Fifth grade students are involved in researching news stories, running the camera, operating laptops that send information out to the whole school, and reporting the news from our school and the world! We are using sophisticated equipment and a green screen to make our news show engaging and real-world.
Students who are interested are given the opportunity to sign up at the beginning of the school year. We rotate news crews on a monthly basis. When you are contacted by our news director, Mrs. Gatchel, you begin your training and eventually take the reins. At the end of your rotation, you will train the incoming news crew. If you are interested in participating but did not sign up at the beginning of the year, talk to your teacher, or email Mrs. Gatchel! We need students in front of the camera and behind the scenes! At the end of the school year, Fifth Grade students will train Fourth Grade students. We will have a Fourth Grade News Crew based on teacher recommendation. These fourth graders will also be our returning Fifth Grade News Crew the following school year. Other students are also involved in the News Show by being guests to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Each teacher's class in every grade has been assigned a week out of the school year to send students to lead the Pledge. Please contact Betsy Gatchel for more information about BME Live News Show! They shared information about their jobs on the Board of Education. The told us about their families, their experiences on All About Craven, and gave advice to students and staff. We had a GREAT time!
